Fishing

Fishing has been a major practice of the known world for centuries, but not only does it serve environmentally conscious objectives as well as a major resource for food, fishing has become a sportive pastime as well. So simple is the life of fishing that many people are drawn to it in any capacity, whether professional or recreational. A life on the sea is harsh, but it can also be exciting. Still, fishing is a vast world of its own with its own particularly designed equipment and techniques that require training and cautionary approaches. Bow fishing, spear fishing and surf fishing all insist on skill for successful performance.

The latter especially denotes the different types of fishing contingent on the time of year, climate, and specific target. Fly fishing is usually a low-key event practiced by the non-professional as a means of recreation. So many people love whiling away their afternoons sitting on a quiet lake away from the hustle-and-bustle of civilization where they can sit in peace and think. Common types of fish hunted in fly fishing are bass, pike, and walleye. Ice fishing, practiced in the winter and in the far northern hemisphere is the one type that doesn’t require the use of a boat, as many of those who engage in ice fishing simply cut a whole in the ice and sit there with a line. Some actually ice fish indoors, as many a cabin provides space for ice fishing. This is the one type of fishing that doesn’t have to worry about the extreme cold or blizzard weather. Sea fishing, however, requires vast crews and larger boats with heavy-duty equipment that includes cranes and deck-mounted spear guns. This kind of fishing occurs for months on end in deep, open waters and systematically hunts various marine species like octopus, squid, lobster, crab, shark, swordfish, dolphin, shrimp, jellyfish, whale, and many kinds of fish including salmon, scallops, marlin, striper, tuna, carp, walleye, crappie, pike, tarpon, trout, musky, and bass.

Common equipment used in all, or many, types of fishing are designed to make the process easy and even more stealth: realistically painted lures, hooks of assorted sizes, taut fishing lines entwined securely on reels of varying ranges of slackness, both handheld and large nets; tackle involving implements necessary for particular types of fishing and fishing strategies, and carts for carrying supplies. Equipment also includes attire, like waders, wool shirts and vests, for maintaining body heat and dryness. Hats supply lures but also provide shade on those exceptionally bright sunny days. Another way to make your next fishing trip more enjoyable is to bring man's best friend along with you. Browse through all the dogs and find a four-legged companion.

Fishing, fun yet strenuous as it is, serves as both hobby and occupation. The wonderful thing about fishing is that those who engage in it are able to travel the world and go anywhere any time of the year and see many amazing things, so adventures are virtually limitless. Because of this, fishing is one of the most popular and envy-generating activities in the world.
