Fishing Trip
Summertime seems to beckon pro fishers and novices alike to the shores of rivers and ponds for that perfect, high yielding fishing trip. Every fishing enthusiast dreams of the catch that would make Moby Dick's Captain Ahab jealous. But what prevents many summer fishing trips from being successful is the almost relentless heat, especially in the South. The solution is to leave those dog days of summer behind and instead experience the cricket-chirping summer nights.
Fishing at night has plenty of advantages, one being that the climate is cooler. Lower temperatures and less humidity have a two fold effect: first, they make fishing more comfortable for the fisher while secondly, they result in fish coming closer to the surface in larger numbers. Much like the fisher, the fish do not like the hot temperatures during the day and therefore will be fewer and far between at the surface.
But once night settles in, the fish, especially catfish, will reemerge from the depths to feed and usually will be more likely to chomp on a fisher's bait.
It may not always be true that the largest catches are made during fishing trips at night, but there are ways to heighten your chances of it happening. Some like to take flashlights on their night trips because of the low visibility level and also to use them as a way to attract fish. The light should be mounted in a way on the boat so as to place a spotlight on the surface of the water. Then, like moths to a flame, the fish usually come in droves.
There are some precautions, of course, that a fisher should take during a night trip. Because predatory animals such as snakes like to feed at night also, a fisher has to always be on the look out for them. And it is always a good idea to let someone know where you are going and to take a friend or two along with you when taking a night fishing trip.
Even though some unwanted critters may visit on a night fishing trip, a fisher gets to escape the day clamor and noise of other boaters on the water that may scare away fish. As another tip, a fisher should take into account the pond or river size, and pack accordingly while also trying to pack lightly. The most essential thing to fishing, rather in the day or night, is that it is done safely. Once life vests are on, the gloves can come off and the hunt for the best catch of your life can begin.
